My husband is pretty long suffering when it comes to this blog. Actually he puts up with a lot for the sake of my ‘little’ obsession with documenting our memories together. Not only does he help me design it, well more the coding and stuff that gives me a headache rather than the actual design, but he also humours me when it comes to my incessant desire to take photos everywhere we go. He only has a limited time threshold though, before he makes me put the camera away, especially when it comes to photos with him in them. But really, deep down, I know he is really supportive of my little blog and he often reads my posts and texts me to say something about them.
The one thing he has never done however, is commented or ever written anything for my blog before. He is very much a silent reader and a couple of times I have asked him to write things and he has politely (or not so politely) declined. Therefore on Sunday I was really touched and surprised to find out that he had done something really sweet for me. On Sunday, I went on a long overdue date day with Mads, we rarely get any one on one time with each other, so when Ripleys London invited us to go on a fun filled day with them I jumped at the chance to spend a day with my big girly. It meant that Daddy and LL got to spend some special time together too.
One thing I always ask is that if I am away from the girl’s for the day, I ask for Mr E to send me a couple of photo’s just so I can see what they are getting up too. I was slightly miffed on Sunday that he hadn’t sent me any of him and LL, but I wasn’t too fussed as Mads and I were too busy having lots of fun. However when I got home I was greeted with the cutest surprise- he had made me a little video of their day together and written me a blog post too. It actually made me get tears in my eyes that he would think to do something like that, so of course I had to share it!
Here is Mr E’s little account of his day with LL…
‘So whilst the wife is away for the day in the big smoke with Mads, I got to spend some quality 1 on 1 time with our small bean LL! It’s not often I get to spend 1 on 1 time with the smallest one, it’s usually a combination of the full family or I’ve got both of the little critters to myself! Obviously I had lots of 1 on 1 time in the beginning with Mads as she was around before LL. My first observation is that what was all the fuss about when we had just one child? Having LL all to myself is so easy, just one child to entertain and keep happy is simples! 😉
My second is that LL is at such a great and fun age, always exploring, smiling and giggling. She is constantly busy and always doing something, it’s like she sets herself little missions in her head, I love it! I’m also reflecting on Mads at this age and wondering if she was the same, she was always smiley and giggly but maybe the second time round I’m a bit more of a relaxed parent and finding it easy to enjoy the early years. Having seen how quickly Mads has grown, I’m in no rush for LL to grow up.
I have an incredible bond with Mads – she has always been a Daddy’s girl, and I often feel that my attention is focused more on her, as because she is a little older she requires more attention and energy. It’s also quite hard to find something that suits both ages, at the moment even a gap of 2 years feels like miles apart, although I feel the gap will soon close and they will be like 2 peas in a pod! Today has definitely made me realise what fun LL is and I have decided to make a conscious effort to have more 1 on 1 time with her and just enjoy these times. Before you know it, it will be tantrums, handbags and boyfriends and there will come a point where Daddy is no longer their best friend!
Oh and as Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Anyway here is Daddy and LL’s little adventure!’
