This week has been yet again a bit of a stressful one in the ‘E’ household with both myself and Mr E, and Mads coming down with some horrid illnesses. Luckily we seem to be over most of them and I am excited about the coming week as it is my birthday. Not that we ever do much for my birthday nowadays, but it just so happens this next week I have lots on. However this is My Week That Was not My Week That Will Be so lets recap the week we have just had, bugs and all.
Without further ado here was My Week That Was.
Monday I had to get up super early to get the train into London for an all day meeting with work. It was an interesting day, I had a good time and we ate loads of sweets which is always a bonus. On the way home I encountered this on the tube- it was so puzzling as they really did look like heads in a bag! Monday was also the day Mr E started his new job for another design studio- apparently it went really well, I am so proud of him.
Tuesday was another work day and pretty non descript, after coming home we went over to my Mums for dinner which was nice- I always love spending time with my family. Mr E then came back home to work on my lovely friend Kara’s blog design. We are pretty pleased with the finished look and hope that she is too.
On Wednesday, I worked in the morning before coming home and heading over to my Mums salon for my usual manicure. I decided this week to go for pink glitter- I love it, it is very me. It really is lovely having a Mum who owns a beauty salon as it means Mads can go in there and get fussed over by Grandma and run riot, without me worrying about the fact that she could break things. I would never dream of taking her to a normal salon so it means a great deal that I can there. However towards the end of the day her cough starting getting a lot worse.
On Wednesday night I went out for a glass of wine and a chat with my friend Jo. We went to watch a band play as they might be playing at the charity ball I am helping to organise in June. The band were good and all in all it was a great night. I got home however to Mr E lying in the dark in the bath- when asking him what was wrong he said that he felt very sick and his tummy felt funny. Uh oh.
Thursday I awoke feeling so tired and very sick. Mr E had been up all night being sick and within an hour of waking up I had to rush to the toilet to be sick myself. Within a couple of hours I felt so achy, sick and poorly that I could hardly summon the energy to get out of bed. Mr E had to go to work as it was only his fourth day at his new job so I was left to look after a poorly Mads while feeling dreadful myself. In the end I had to call my Mum and she very kindly came and got Mads and took her back to her salon for a few hours and I had some well needed sleep. It is nice to know I can still call on my mum when I am poorly too.
By Thursday evening I was feeling a bit better but when I went to have an early night, I checked on Mads, and found that she had been sick all over herself, her cot, her toys, and everything else within a metre range. It was everywhere. We had to pop her in the bath and sort everything out- my poor little girl. Seems on top of her cough she had caught our bug too.
Friday we woke up and took Mads straight down to the doctors, he confirmed she had a quite bad chest infection and she was given antibiotics. I wish I had taken her sooner but normally you are told it is a virus and there is nothing you can do. I was feeling much better by this point so rather than mope around the house we went over to my Mum’s salon again- still in the warm but better than being at home with an upset baby. I got treated to a facial which was nice. Towards the end of the day the antibiotics started working and Mads started to seem a little better- especially when Grandma bought her some chocolate buttons. She takes after her Mummy but I like the milk chocolate ones and Mads prefers the white ones!
Saturday we went over to my Mum’s salon again but this time we helped her out by walking around and doing some leaflet posting. The sun was out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, at one point I even just wore a t-shirt. Mads had a nice sleep in her buggy and Mr E and I chatted and put the world to rights, we walked miles in the end and posted so many leaflets. My Mum’s salon is in a lovely area and so we enjoyed looking at all the big, gorgeous houses. It is in the village I went to school and is just so quaint, I would love to move back there soon. Saturday night was spent cuddling and Mr E cooked his pretty much world famous risotto. Chorizo, snap peas, peppers, and peas. Yum.
Sunday was spent doing some freelance work, for both Mr E and myself, while the other person played with the little monkey. We also tidied the house from top to bottom. All in all it was a quiet, relaxing weekend which was just what we needed after a rather stressful, poorly week.
And that was My Week That Was.
If you would like to join up and tell us about your week the linky is open and will remain open until next Sunday so feel free to join up at any time- doesn’t just have to be on a Sunday. You can grab the badge too. Have a good week.
