We are in the truly in the throes of August now and as I sit writing this we are currently on a lovely couple of days in Hampshire. I’m sat in the glamorous location of our hotel bathroom as we try and get two little monkeys to sleep. We thought that we would let them have a special treat and let them sleep in the same bed together for the first time ever, they share a room and have bunk beds, but this is the first time we have let them snuggle up together. They are having such a lovely time, all we can hear are giggles and chattering, but it’s now 9.45pm and there is no sign of sleep so we may have to go and break up the party soon.
That’s the thing though- these sisters of mine are just at the most delicious age. LL chats non stop now and it means that we really get to experience the world through the eyes of these two. They immerse us in make believe, happiness and fun non stop and it is my absolute favourite thing to watch them interacting together. While I am exceptionally close to my sister, with a ten year age gap, I didn’t have a little companion growing up, and I find just so heart warming to watch them together. Even the arguments make me smile, just the way in which they can go from being the best of friends to squabbling non stop in the space of 20 seconds.
And that’s the thing. While their bond is fiercely strong and the love they have for each other is a constant source of happiness in our family, they also argue too. But it’s just the usual sibling fights over toys, whose holding Mummy’s hand or who is the ‘last best’ at colouring in. They also have a new found ‘skill’ of screaming and shrieking, and encouraging the other one to join in until we have burst ear drums. Their ‘encouragement’ is always a source of winding myself and Mr E up- they can make each other so hyper and we often have to tell them both to calm down. In the car they chatter non stop like a pair of old hens, with LL pretty much repeating everything her big sister says. Ultimately their relationship is incredibly special and I am thankful every single day for how much they love each other.
I was all set up with some photos of a lazy weekend for my Siblings photos this month but now I am home from Hampshire (for the record they didn’t get to sleep till 10pm but once they were asleep they were fine and were all cuddled up together!) but as I was editing my photos of our time I found these and I couldn’t resist using these instead. I absolutely love them and think they completely sum up the love my two little people have for one another.
I am one very lucky person to have these two in my life.
This month I am sending you to have a look at Kerri-Ann’s beautiful blog. She truly takes the most beautiful photos of her girls and they remind me of older versions of mine! 🙂
