The festivities have been and gone, and so it brings us to the end of the final month of the year. We had a lovely Christmas, if not a little hectic, and I can’t believe that it is all over and we will soon be welcoming 2014. Mr E and myself will be saying Goodbye to 2013 with an evening of home made Mexican food and lots of tasty cocktails, and no doubt we will run upstairs to give Mads a kiss like we have done every year since she arrived in the world.
Except this year there is another little lady to kiss when the clock strikes twelve. Twelve months ago we were a three, and I wished in the New Year hoping that the baby growing in my tummy would arrive safe and well. And she did. In February, LL came crying into the world and made our liittle family complete. A foursome.
2013 has been a year of learning and growing as a family of four. There have been hard times, times when having two children hasn’t always been plain sailing. But for the most part being a family of four just seems to have worked for us. I feel blessed and incredibly lucky to have these two little people in our lives.
We were going to attempt a photo by the Christmas Tree for our Me and Mine portrait this month, but to be perfectly honest, Christmas Day was full of food, fizz, family and fun times, and we just didn’t get round to it. We had a great festive period, and what is even better is that Mr E isn’t back at work until the 6th January, which means we have been enjoying lots of quality family time. Our family photo for this month was taken on a lazy Sunday- Mads got a new scooter for her birthday so we have been enjoying taking her out on that.
The light was surreal, really sunny but yet also dark at the same time. There was a frost on the ground, and it was so cold that our noses turned red. It sums up winter walks for me perfectly. And it also sums up our little family for this month- between the hectic busy times that Christmas inevitably brings, there has been relaxed times where we have done nothing but just be us.
The four of us.
We started the year as a three, became a four, and grew together.
What a year full of memories. 2013 you were pretty damn special. The year my family became complete.
