23 Weeks Pregnant...Bump Diary.

bumpdiary23weeks

Another two weeks has flown by and is now time for my latest bump diary.  This pregnancy certainly doesn't feel like it is flying, in fact I feel like I have been pregnant forever, but its nice to know I am over half way now to meeting my little bug.

Since the last update, Bug has started kicking loads.  She is certainly a very active little thing, and I feel her on and off throughout the night.  I have noticed her kick a bit more during the day, but only if I am concentrating or in the right position.  She is a lot more wriggly than Mads was, in fact I remember at this stage I was still only feeling the odd tap and not every day.  My placenta is at the front again, so not sure whether this just means that Bug is going to be less laid back than her super laid back sister.

Mr E feels the movements now, it is one of those lovely moments of pregnancy that make you smile, I love it when his hand is on my tummy and she kicks, it is a wonderful moment to experience.

I am suffering with groin pain, not all the time but it definitely comes and goes in waves, and is a lot worse than it was with Mads.  In the grand scheme of things however, it isn't particularly bad and I am counting myself lucky that I seem to have escaped any awful pregnancy symptoms just yet.  Except big veiny boobs- not pleasant at all!  I am also suffering at work a lot earlier than I did at last time, I find it hard being sat at a computer all day and my back aches a lot, and I can't get comfy.

I had a midwife appointment last week, and I was shocked that I was in and out in 5 minutes.  She didn't even check my urine which I was a little disappointed about because I do suffer from cystitis.  I think the second time around they just expect you to know what you are feeling and to let them know if you have any worries.

I have a VBAC clinic appointment next week to discuss my birth options more.  I am not really sure what this one entails as I have already discussed it with my consultant, but I guess it is good to go and hear more information.  I am still more leaning towards an elective c-section but I am going along with their plan of a VBAC delivery- I figure it is too early in the day too argue as you never know what is going to happen.  If nearer my due date, I am still feeling this way, I will try and request a section, but at the moment I am staying open minded about everything.

I love the bump diary :) I'm 24 weeks so it's fun following someone who is at the same stage. My midwife appointments were weirdly quick until I changed hospitals even though this is my first baby. New ones seem less rushed though. Good luck with the VBAC appointment.

Hehe. They definitely do seem to just leave you to it the second time around. But then you are like a pro now.
It's funny that you say it's not going very fast. I was thinking the other that it feels like you've been pregnant ages, maybe as I knew quite early, or maybe because I'm just impatient for bug to be here. But then I think the 20 to 30 week bit is the quickest part.
And Splodge was definitely very different in the movement department to Dollop, but I wouldn't say she's any less chilled than her brother. I think maybe they just feel wrigglier the second time because you are more aware of the feelings. X

Looking lovely. All my midwife appointments were under 5 mins on first pregnancy but I do know that they should be checking urine everytime still as I asked someone else when they didn't check mine at 16 weeks! Have my mw today :)

So pleased you are keeping well, with the exception of the pain. Let me know how you get on with your VBAC appointment. I'm probably a section this time. Glad you are feeling more movement, I'm starting to now. Good luck and keep well x

She sounds like she's very active. I wonder if after the first you know what to expect so feel it all a lot quicker and are a lot more confident. Your vbac / elective plan sounds a good one. One of those will feel right for you as your due date gets closer!

I too love your bump diary. I think had I not felt so so rough through this pregnancy I would have been so much more on the ball and done something similar as I documented everything first time round. Sorry to hear you are starting to get achey now, it's awful. My only advice is remember you can get referred to an antenatal physio who can help with support bands, exercises etc. I'm obviously at the same point in my pregnancy as you and it's funny how we are experiencing such similar things at the same time. Hubby felt bumpety for the first time this week too and my baby is having a constant disco in my tummy. I feel it so much more than I did with my little girl too! Look forward to reading you next update xxx
