A Rather Lovely Saturday.
Last night I was trying to think of somewhere nice that we could go for a little family time today. I thought of quite a few places far away but neither of us particularly wanted to drive that far. Then I realised that we had a lovely place to go that was just on our doorstep.
My Mum is next Wednesday opening a beauty salon in a little picturesque village in Cambridgeshire- it is about fifteen minutes away from where we live and it is the village I grew up in and went to school. Mr E and I also lived there for almost a year with my Mum and sister while we were saving to buy a house.
It's funny that we were thinking about where to go for a nice day out without thinking of what is right under our nose.

The village where I grew up is beautiful- the photos don't do it justice but it is full of quaint little shops, a delicatessan, a couple of lovely gastro pubs and wonderful walks. It is dominated by a large castle at one end of the High Street which is where I went to school. It is steeped in history.
We had a lovely day, we helped my Mum set up her beauty salon to get ready for its grand opening on Wednesday, we all went for lunch in the pub with my stepdad and Mum and shared a pizza, and then went for a long walk.
It was one big walk down memory lane and even though I do still go there quite a bit, it just makes you realise that beauty and fun are right under your nose- you don't always have to spend a lot of money and travel to have a nice day out.
I love the weekends with my little family.
All in all a rather lovely Saturday.
