Morrisons - Fuel Saver

on Monday, 17 September 2012.

For some reason one thing which I hate spending my money on is petrol. Now I know if you have a car, petrol is pretty essential to get you from A to B, but I really do dislike filling my car up- to me it is one of those things that is really expensive and also that you don't really have anything to show for it too.

Therefore I was interested in hearing more about the Morrisons fuel saver scheme, the UK's first fuel saver scheme which helps shoppers cut down their petrol and diesel bills. Although I don't put a huge amount in my car, I must spend at least £30 a week on petrol, and when the pennies are tight it does all add up.

Morrisons has teamed up with 34 high street stores, such as Next, Topshop and Boots, and by paying for goods in your favourite shops, you also save money on your petrol bills. How it works is that you use gift vouchers bought in Morrisons stores to pay for items in these shops, and by doing so you get a voucher for money off your next time at the pump.

At Christmas time you can buy gift vouchers for family and friends, and while they get the joy of spending it, you get money off your petrol bill. It is a win win situation!

I love a good scheme to sign up too that will save me money. At the end of the day, if you have a car, you will need to put petrol in it to get you from A to B. I really like the idea of the Fuel Saver scheme as it means that you get rewarded for doing your normal shopping, plus for buying treats for yourself too. Who would have thought that buying that new dress in topshop would also help me save money on my fuel bill too?!

I totally agree about hating spending money on petrol. I have only been driving since the start of the year so it is still a bit of a luxury to drive around but it just costs so much! A lot of people around here have diesel cars which run on bio-diesel which is basically old chip fat, it stinks but is half the price! X

I got given a leaflet about this in Morrisons the other day & to me it seems like a win win situation - if I'm shopping in Boots or Next anyway I might as well save on petrol....shame I'd have to use a gallon to get to the nearest Morrisons petrol station though!
