As I am sure you are all aware by now I adore photography and the thing I adore most is taking photos of my lovely little girl. Call me soppy but I also adore documenting her memories, something that she will treasure when she is older. She has a memory box full of different bits including her hospital band, her going home outfit and her birth cards and of course I also write her letters, both handwritten and on my blog so that she can read them when she gets older.

Which is why, when I found the Once a Year books by Laikonik, I was blown away. Laikonik is the brainchild of Kasia, an incredibly talented artist and designer. Laikonik was created in 2005 as a way of capturing her creative ideas, and it has grown into a fully fledged business, with an aim of connecting with the global community, whilst continuing to support the growing trend for ethically made and earth friendly products.

The Once-A-year books are so beautiful, and such a fantastic way of creating a memory journal for your child, without a huge amount of work needed to maintain it. You basically chronical the first eighteen years of your child's life by inserting a photo for each year and adding a brief description to each year as well. Also included is a chatter book which can be used to keep a record of your child's first words or even first milestones.

Each Once-A-year book comes included with a beautiful silk hemp bag to keep it safe and features a Polish folk art inspired motif. Each book also comes with a pamphlet on how to get the best out of the book and hints and tips, including if you are back dating the book in the case of a slightly older child.

They come in lots of different patterns, my favourite being this one below as I love birds which I am sure you can tell from my blog design! You can also personalise your book as well which makes it extra special.

I never got a keepsake of my childhood and feel slightly upset due to not having a good memory of it. Although over the years my mum has collected school reports, pictures etc.. I plan on doing one for my kids especially them being so young and growing up so they can look back on when their older and see all the cute and adorable thungs they did!! I've started a keepsake box with first hair cut, hospital band, first clothes, blanket, pictures, teddy .. That kind of thing xx

What an utterly beautiful product! We have a Memory Box for Francesca, covered in newspaper headlines etc from the day she was born and full of the papers, number one song/album, hospital band and lots more. We also did her a '1st Year Book' with letters to her every month, a photo of her from every week and any leaflets from where we'd been with her. I just love doing things like that for her :) x

I think keepsakes are the most important thing ever, I have lost most of my memories from my childhood (long story) so I have to rely on what people tell me and pictures, for this reason Ashley and I have 12 memory boxes, 3 are Gray's alone. He has papers from the day he was born, hair from his first haircut, every card, every hospital bracelet (too many to count) and Addison has her own email account which I email letters and notes too for her to read in the future. Life is about seeing how where you came from makes you you now.

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!! I feel like such a bad mother after reading LoveBryony's comments and this once-a-year book would help to redeem my motherly self-esteem! I always 'mean' to do stuff, collect newspaper headings etc etc but alas, all's I have is a half written Winnie the Pooh journal - shame on me! I LOVE this book, I NEED this book so that when my angel is 18 she can look at me with love in her eyes and "know" that I made an effort for her, for 18 years! Please random.org, pick me :-)

This is an absolutely lovely idea. I have a book for Amy's first year and also a scrapbook that I have to start filling but none of them are as cute as this great keepsake. I find it important that parents keep memories for their children. I have a lovely photo album of my childhood and am truly grateful that my parents have put it together. I love looking through it...

i started my blog the day i found out i'm having a bebe as i really wanted to document the entire journey. we have 10 weeks left till our little bebe comes to join us and that's when we'll start to make real memories to treasure and cherish forever. i'm hoping that our son or daughter will look back on the blog when they are older and have a special place to look back and remember the journey we are all about to begin.

books like this are brilliant too because then you have something tangible and tactile to look back on. a wonderful gift to any person and hopefully one our lovely child will be able to share with their future family.

This is an absolutely lovely idea. Babies grow up so quickly, and you won’t ever have the ability to go back and re-live those precious memories. That is why it is so important to do everything you can to preserve the memories of your baby’s first year of life

This is absolutely beautiful and I would absolutely adore one. I did a few photo books for Poppy, nothing yet for Rosie and the new one has my bump diary but that's as far as ive got. Would love to make it up with one of these x

The first few months were a blur I think for us because I was so tired I kept looking for my next lot of sleep. Then I started my blog to record Zs journey and I love it! Every so often I read my old posts and can't believe how he's changing so much!! I wish I'd done it through my pregnancy too but c'est la vie! :)

Gorgeous idea, I love the idea of it, we have 9 shoeboxes of keepsakes for my twins so far! including diary of pregnancy,first clothes, places we have been, hospital bands etc etc love it wish my parents had done it for me :D
