Inspired- Scrabble

on Monday, 12 March 2012.

Ssshhh don't tell anyone but Mr E and I are secret scrabble geeks.  In fact I adore sitting with a glass of wine and playing the good old word game.  I used to play it a lot when I was little with my Nana and my Mum when we used to go and visit them for the weekend, and I have really fond memories of staying up past my bedtime and playing a game.

Scrabble is our holiday staple and we have had many lovely holidays where we have sat on sun loungers in the blistering heat, getting very competitive and thinking up dares for the loser of the game.  Mr E is traditionally not very good at spelling but for some reason always seems to beat me at Scrabble- I think he cheats.

Therefore for my Inspired this week I thought that I would show my dedication to the rather fabulous game.  There are so many lovely things out there that are inspired on the trusty Scrabble tile.

1. I love love love these cushions , I think they would look super stylish in my lounge.  And what girl doesn't love cushions?

2. This card is just gorgeous- and very true.  After all love is certainly a very complex word.  I wouldn't mind Mr E buying me this, he often buys me little cards for no reason.

3. I think this bracelet is very nice, there are lots of jewellery inspired by Scrabble but I like this one as it silver.  I think it would look lovely on someone's wrist, and I like that it spells out the word 'love'.

4. Finally I adore this little handmade sign, I think it would look lovely in my living room, and I have a bit of a thing about birds as well, if you couldn't tell from my blog!  I may have to try making something like this myself as you can buy separate tiles on places like ebay.

Nowadays Mr E and I don't often have the time to have a game of Scrabble, although we did play a couple of weeks ago at my Mother in Laws.  I do however occasionally play him at Words with Friends which is just as fun.  If anyone hasn't downloaded it yet, I suggest you don't as it is incredibly addictive.

Inspired- Love.

on Monday, 13 February 2012.

As it is Valentines Day tomorrow I felt it was only right to use my Inspired this week to share some little snippets on love that make me feel all gooey inside.

Valentines Day's have changed in this house.  After many years together and now another little person there to share our time, we just don't celebrate it like we used too.  However tomorrow night no doubt we will spend our time together eating a yummy meal (steak I think!) and watching a soppy film.  And I will make sure we turn the lap tops and twitter off.  We don't need to spend money on gifts, I am not really into that, but a nicely written card would be lovely.

I know that my blog is soppy, but that is the kind of person I am and I make no apologies for that.  I am loved and I am happy.  Oh yes, I get stressed out, and this year has been tough especially with money but I am a glass half full kind of person.  Of course I don't believe that love always lasts forever- I have grown up in a world of separations but I do believe that as human beings we can forgive.  Especially for the sake of children.  And that ultimately is love.

I adore my husband and I hope he adores me and I do hope that we are strong enough to stand the test of time.  I believe that we are.  That is why I stood at the end of the aisle on that snowy day in December 09 and said my vows.  For better or worse.

So anyway back to my soppy love inspired for the week...

I love this illustration.  As my husband and I are proper computer geeks- this suits us down to the ground.

I am a firm believer in fate and love this- its true that if you just happened to take a slightly different path one day then your life could be very different.

I love this, a silly sentiment but I really like the illustration.

Finally I love this one.  Only because Mr E and I are slight Scrabble geeks.

So there you have it.  Things that have been tickling my creative and loving buds this week.  If you have been 'inspired' by anything this week why not head over to Dear Beautiful Boy and link up?

Inspired- A Dress For A Wedding.

on Monday, 06 February 2012.

I am a very naughty friend and didn't participate in Lucy's linky last week as to be honest I wasn't feeling very inspired.  However I am back now and my brain is just full of ideas and thoughts, and I have a very busy week ahead of me.

Rather than focus on important things such as work, I instead thought I would write about something a little more easy going.  My lovely Dad is getting married in April and they are having a rather low key wedding, they have been together a long time so it will just be a small do with family and friends.

However just because it is a small party doesn't mean that we girls don't want to look nice.  And of course the most important person that is going to be there (well after the bride and groom!) is my little Mads.  She is the only grandchild at the moment and therefore the apple of everyone's eye.  It is only right therefore that she has a super beautiful dress for the day and I have been looking online to find inspiration.

They are getting married and then having a party with outside caterers in their garden so we don't want anything too over the top, but of course being that we are very girly girls, there is sure to be something out there that we like.

Here are some of my favourites...

I love this dress from Gap and I think Mads would look super cute in it- it is a lovely material and really pretty with the hot pink netting underneath.

I love this John Lewis flower dress.  I really do adore the little traditional smock dresses as they remind me of what my Mum used to dress me in when I was little.  Mads had quite a few of these when she was a tiny baby.  This one is adorable.

Also by John Lewis is this purple flowery dress- Mads really suits purple and I just think this dress is a little different.  It will also be good for hiding messy food stains of which there will be a lot of if Mads is anything to go by!

Finally I love this dress from Laura Ashley.  I love the fact it is a little quirky with the umbrella's all over it, although lets hope it doesn't rain on their wedding day and we have sunshine like we did last April when it was scorching on some days.  My only concern with this one is it may not be enough of a party dress but if it is in their garden do you think it matters?

I am still looking so if you have bought a dress for your little one recently do let me know and I will check it out, or if you could let me know your favourite from the above that would be great.  And while you are at it, why not head over to Dear Beautiful Boy and get some inspiration of your own?

Inspired- My Love Of Words.

on Monday, 23 January 2012.

One of my favourite bloggers Lucy at Dear Beautiful Boy has started a fabulous new linky which is all about being 'Inspired'.  I adore this idea because I love to be inspired and 2012 I have decided is my year to achieve my dreams.  This week Lucy has set the theme of words which I love because I for one absolutely love quotes and inspirational messages.

First up I need to show you my all time favourite quote.  My lovely husband proposed to me and with my ring was a goody bag full of bits for our engagement weekend which was a surprise trip to Edinburgh.  He bought me a card and in it he said, I hope you say yes!  The card was simple with just the words 'When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.'  I adored the quote and so as a surprise one day Mr E made me this which is one of my most treasured possessions-

I love this quote and it totally sums up how I felt about Mr E, I just wanted to marry him as soon as possible and start our new life together.

I could literally go overboard with the quotes but I thought I would set myself the theme of 'Achieving'- All these quotes sum up to me how I am feeling at the moment.

I love this one and wholeheartedly agree with what it is saying.  I for one am a real worrier, mainly about finances and things like that, but I do worry about other things as well.  I am a firm believer in what is meant to be will be.

I also love this one.  I have so many dreams, wishes and goals for 2012.  But I often end up putting them off because life and it's mundane activities get in the way.  I think this quote totally sums up how I am feeling at the moment- don't put off starting things or trying to achieve your dreams as you will regret it.

Finally the last one, although I could go fill up my whole blog with these inspirational messages is this one.  Again it is another motto that I am trying to live 2012- never give up.  I firmly believe that if you work hard, aim big and never give up, you will achieve your dreams.
