Me and Mine: A Family Portrait Project- September.

September has passed us by in a blur of weekends away, trips out, quiet days, award ceremonies and day to day mundanity.  I can’t believe how quickly this year is going, we are drawing ever closer to Mads third birthday and to my tiny baby LL being one.  It has been the quickest year of my life so far, which is bittersweet, as it is also the best.

After last month in which we were organised, we are back to our usual ways and left our family portrait till the last minute.  So on Saturday on a whim we headed over to a special place.

1380 days ago I married my best friend.

Our wedding day on the 20th December 2009 was everything I could have wished for and more.  Surrounded by our friends and family, we laughed, cried and danced all day long.  We then jetted off the next day on our honeymoon to Mexico and Miami.  We didn’t want children straight away, we wanted to wait a while, but something changed in my heart almost as soon as we said ‘I do.’  I wanted to be a Mummy.  We sat on the beach on Christmas Eve and decided it felt right.  Exactly 365 days later our beautiful Mads arrived.

Two and a bit years later LL arrived too.  If someone had told me on my wedding day that three and a half years later we would have two lovely daughters, I would have never have even believed it.  We are so lucky.

1380 days ago I stood under this archway with my brand new husband.

1380 days have passed.  We have gained more wrinkles, more weight, and even a few grey hairs.

But above all?

We have gained two little ladies.

We couldn’t ask for anything more.

Our family.
