Peace and Quiet.

peaceandquiet

For someone who used to be a total sun worshipper I knew that this holiday was going to be a little 'different.'  Obviously I still wanted to get a little bit of sunshine but at the same time I wanted to make sure my gorgeous lady with her delicate fair skin was kept out of the sun for most of the time.

Difficult when Mummy wants to sit in the sun and Mads wants to cuddle/play/generally be with Mummy and is determined not to keep her hat on or sit under the umbrella.  Therefore not much sunbathing was done, and I spent most of my holiday in the shade.  Not that it mattered as we had a lot of fun playing.

However in the afternoon Mads had a nice long sleep.  If we were at the villa she would sleep in her travel cot but if we were at the beach she would snooze in her buggy under a towel.  She was as good as gold and it meant that we got some valuable 'peace and quiet' in order to enjoy our books and sit in the sunshine.

Our holiday was definitely not as peaceful as past ones.  But you know what?

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sounds very familiar! Unfortunately, Bob slept for her usual 30 minute so I came back paler than I left. ;0)

This post rings lots of bells for our recent holiday but thankfully I had the grands and they took him once to his room for his afternoon nap and I had a whole 2 hours all to myself!!!!

Ahhh, loving her legs dangling out. You can just tell that she's fast asleep from how floppy her legs are.
I'm glad you had a lovely holiday and made it work around naps and shade so that you could all get want you wanted from our holiday. X

I completely understand where you are coming from. My idea of a great holiday is sunbathing with a good book by the pool. As parents we NEED this relaxation, but funnily enough, it's near on impossible to do when you have young children!

We are not going away this year, but we went on holiday last year and the only time I was able to properly relax in the sun was during Arlo's nap times. The rest of the time I was sitting in the shade with him or chasing him around trying to make sure he didn't fall in the pool, etc.

I found the transition from pre-baby holidays to post-baby ones quite hard, but then of course there are lots of lovely things about going away with your children too.

It wasn't the most relaxing but it was still lovely for the memories. However I think it will just be a few days away in the UK for us next year! x

I was an avid sunbather too and it comes as a shock when you can't do it the same anymore. My holidays were defined by my tan! how ridiculous to think that now. This time on holiday if it wasn't one wanting attention it was the other but I don't care anymore. I would much rather be playing with my boys and perhaps saving my skin these days. I still came with colour and it's a much safer way to catch the sun in the shade xx
