{The Ordinary Moments} #2

on Sunday, 25 August 2013.

{the ordinary moments}

'The simple things in life are often the sweetest. While the fancy days out, weekends away or holidays are fun, it's the ordinary moments I will miss when my children are all grown up. The snuggling in bed reading a story. The giggles as they run around my overgrown garden with the grass that desperately needs a cut. Even the naughty ones. The ones we all have. Just a photo from your week. The simple. The exciting. The imperfect. The Ordinary Moments.'

This photo is blurry, not particularly good quality as it was shot in the early evening with my iPhone, but I love everything about it.

LL is learning, growing and discovering every single day.  Her personality is developing more and more, and by all accounts it is going to be a very cheeky one.

This was last Monday and I was getting ready to go on a rare evening out.  Due to breastfeeding, I have only been out three times since LL was born, but on Monday night I went out for dinner with my Mum, little sister, and step sister.

I was sat on the floor in our bedroom and Mr E was helping Mads in the bath.  We get the girls ready for bed on our bed in the evenings, then we read a story, drink milkies, brush teeth and put them in their beds.  LL had finished in the bath and was being so nosy, watching what I was doing.  She is getting so strong at pushing up on her hands and holding her head up.

It's our ordinary life- mess and clutter all over the bed as we go about our evening routine.

I know for a fact that when they are older I will miss the nights where we snuggle on our bed and read a bed time story and have 'family cuddles' before they girls go to bed and we relax downstairs.

A simple moment.

But one I don't want to forget.

*****

I was thrilled with everyone who joined in last week and I loved seeing everyone's moments- some even brought a tear to my eye.  I haven't ever really done a linky before, but I am so glad I started this one because I think it is so important to remember the little moments in our lives.  Thanks so much to everyone who joined in.

    The night time routine is one of my favourite parts of tha day. not because they are off to bed, but because of the intimacy we share. Especially with my eldest who is becoming fiercly independant. After her story and cuddles is always when she divulges her views of the day! and it is the best feeling to be privvy to that x

    It's a lovely moment, she looks so happy and mischievous. I think the quieting down at the end of the day is one of my favourite times, and not just because it immediately precedes bedtime!

    i love that the bed frame frames her perfectly and i also dont mind that it is blurry - i have some nice ones of my two which are a little out of focus but it doesnt take away the beauty of the people in the photo (if that makes any sense!?).
    i adore her cheeky look here and how she is pulling herself up to get a better look around x x

    I think your right Jenny, its not about the blurriness but about what the photo means. x
