I don’t know whether it is the fact it is Spring or the fact I get bored, but recently I have been really trying to give our home a little refresh. We will have lived here for five years in August and when we moved in we completely decorated everywhere. The old owners had a penchant for black radiators, cheap horrible laminate floor and green shagpile carpet, so we basically painted everything neutral and began to slowly put our stamp on each room. At the time we had a pretty limited budget, we obviously had just bought the house plus furnished it, and we were saving for our wedding but we did the best that we could.
Fast forward five years, and two children later and everything is starting to look a little grubby. We recently completely redid our living room but I wanted to give our bedroom a fresh lick of paint and a refresh without spending a huge amount of money. Whereas our living room is ridiculously bright, I wanted our bedroom to be a more calming, peaceful room so I decided to update our existing beige and gold colour scheme by adding some pink touches.
Here is our new pink, gold and white bedroom…
First up we wallpapered our back wall to add a bit more colour to the room. The wallpaper we chose was from Laura Ashley and it’s hard to pick up from the photo but it is shimmery gold with birds. I really love it.
We already had these photos of our wedding day up, Mr E made them as a surprise for me a few years ago, but they are some of my favourites so of course we put them back up again.
Who doesn’t love a cushion? (Answer- my husband)
I used to have so much clutter hanging from the back of our bedroom door but I managed to get rid of most of it and as a feature I hung up my camera bag- I thought the gold went well.
Love these little pink and gold pom poms for the side of our bed.
I wanted to change our bedside tables as I don’t really like them but we couldn’t afford to at the moment. So instead I brightened up my side with this gorgeous little birdcage lamp from Next and a pretty ceramic pink pot from H and M Home.
Love how the lamp creates heart light shapes on the wall. It feels very cosy when combined with our existing fairy lights round the bed. I bought our new bedding from Dunelm and it is super soft and cosy.
Mr E’s side has some dried pink flowers and his favourite treasured photo of him and his Grandad when he was little.
Happy memories on our windowsill.
I originally got these little rabbits from Paperchase (I have an obsession with Russian Dolls) for Easter but I decided I quite liked having them up all the time.
This little flamingo trinkets box is special to me as we picked it up in a flea market when we went on honeymoon to Miami. He goes perfectly with the new colour scheme.
I picked up these little wicker tealight holders from Homebase and they look really pretty glowing away at night time.
I decluttered everywhere and put all our shoes into storage boxes so now under the bed is completely clean and clutter free.
Overall I am really pleased with our new room and love the pop of colour that the pink and gold adds to it. It’s amazing what a lick of paint and a quick refresh can do and I look forward to my bed even more than before now!

NB. We paid for every single bit of our new bedroom makeover (much to Mr E’s reluctance- seriously doesn’t he know cushions and pom poms make a room!) but I have included the links in case it gives anyone any inspiration.
