I can’t begin to explain how much I am loving renovating our home. I can’t believe it but we have been living here nearly a year now and I am enjoying every single minute of doing it up. I feel like we have achieved a lot in the year we have been here- we have undertaken a big extension project, replaced all the external windows and doors, we have decorated the playroom, our girls bedroom, Wren’s room and the living room and dining room. There is still so much left to do, we’ve got the big projects like the garden, kitchen and bathrooms to do, plus dream projects of mine like a garage conversion and even a loft conversion one day if we can afford it (which we probably won’t be able to but you never know!).
It sounds a bit silly but I still come home every single day and feel so grateful to live here, I honestly couldn’t love it more. One of my favourite things to do is just to potter around, tidy up, move things in different places and just generally style our home. While we have a few more dramatic colour choices (e.g our navy blue feature wall), most of our house is done very neutral so I can style it with different accessories and change the look as and when that way. I often get people say to me on instagram that I have a ‘good eye’ for the finishing touches- to me that is my favourite part. I love getting a room done and then spending ages doing the last little bits- the ‘nik naks’ and the ‘bits and bobs’.
Recently Argos Home got in touch with me to see if I wanted to style up some parts of our home in time for Spring using some of their products. I jumped at the chance because in all honesty it is probably my favourite thing to do. I know personally for me that I wouldn’t have expected Argos to have a huge variety of stylish homeware stuff, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They have some really gorgeous pieces, that are also really quite reasonable too. I had a great time sat down with a drink looking at all the different things.
First up I decided to get this grey charcoal pouffe for our living room. We have a footrest in our family room and it is so much comfier to put your feet on than just putting them on the floor, but I hadn’t yet found one I liked for our living room. I loved this chunky knitted pouffe, it looks great, goes with the aesthetic of the room, and isn’t too large that we can’t hide it in a corner if we need too. The only problem is we keep arguing over who puts their feet on it.
I loved this geometric grey vase, it’s big and sturdy and looks lovely in this corner. I am a big fan of fresh flowers about the house, I try and get them as much as I can but had managed to not get any in time so I put these fake flowers in. Still I think it looks lovely and I know that I will get a lot of use out of this lovely vase.
I also found this gorgeous large wicker basket (did you know Argos stock Habitat products?) that was perfect for my ever growing throw collection.
The next thing I got was a pair of these lovely geometric grey cushions as I thought that there would be lots of places these could go (I think every room in our house a grey in it!). I thought it looked lovely sat here on the chair in this little corner
The next thing I spied was this GORGEOUS rug. The one thing that surprised me was how many lovely rugs Argos home had for a really reasonable price. While we had a nice rug for our new extension family room which I will keep as a spare, as soon as I saw this shaggy grey and white rug I knew it would look perfect here. And my goodness it is SO SO SO soft and fluffy. It’s like lying on a cloud, I love it, and so do the children.
If you have been following me on social media a while you will know that I am a big house plant fan. I have about 10 per room and friends keep joking that it is turning into a greenhouse. But to me there is something so lovely about having lots of plants about the house, I think they are such a stylish touch to a room. However while I mainly prefer real plants I also struggle to keep certain ones alive! Therefore I love a good artificial one every now and again. I found this artificial Dracaena and thought it would look great sat here in this corner.
This little upstairs bit of our landing has been on my project list for a while now. We had a rug that we had in our old bedroom at our previous home but I just felt like it was never right for here, it was an awkward fit and also a bit stained (perils of me doing my make up on it!). I fell in love with this monochrome rug (told you Argos Home have lovely rugs!) and knew that it would be perfect for this spot. This was just £59.99 which is such a bargain as it’s a great quality- It’s again really soft and I think it brightens up an otherwise quite boring area of our landing. I found the artificial bamboo plant and thought that would look great (I had a real plant here I struggled to keep alive).
I had also previously been keeping our laundry basked in our room and our old one didn’t have a lid so it always looked a little messy and untidy with the clothes all spilling out of it. I saw this tall Habitat Rattan laundry basket and thought it would be great for this corner- it just means we don’t have to have it clutter up our bedroom anymore.
Finally the last thing I got was this lovely set of blush pink bedding set. I am OBSESSED with blush pink, I think every room I have renovated so far has got blush pink in there somewhere. Our room especially is a pink overload which I am worried I will one day get sick of, but I just love it. This duvet cover is super soft and cosy and a really great value too.
I was and am so impressed with the Argos Home items, I really think that some of the products have added the perfect finishing touches to some of the rooms in our house. They are really good value for money and I have already had a fair few compliments about them. The way I see it is that it is our forever home and I think the key to styling a room is to use a mixture of good value pieces and some slightly more expensive ones. I really love the way that the Argos Home products have added some finishing touches to our home.
NB: We are working with Argos to promote their Argos Home range but all words and opinions are entirely my own.2
