I have always been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. At school I was always the one with a camera in hand, capturing those carefree and innocent childhood years. When I went to university I always had a camera with me on our nights out and as such I have so many wonderful snapshots of my child free, no responsibility days.
I got my first DSLR, a Nikon, in my final year of university when I had this crazy idea that I wanted to go back to university and do a photography degree. That didn’t happen as my parents wouldn’t fund another three years of me getting drunk on a regular basis, but I did develop a passion that has never really gone away. However I didn’t have a particular niche that I liked to photograph.
When Mads was born, I certainly found that niche, and even more of a passion than I ever thought I would have. I upgraded my DSLR, and have since been bitten by the photography bug. Now it is by far my favourite hobby.
My favourite thing to photograph is the everyday memories, the ordinary moments, and the little details that make me smile. I also love to photograph our travel adventures too.
Taking photos takes me to a happy place, I can’t really explain it, but having my camera in my hand, clicking away, gives me a feeling that I don’t think I will ever tire off.
I want to tell our story, the story of my little family, through capturing it with my camera. I want to make sure that my daughters can look back when they are older and smile at their childhood. At how much we loved them. At all the little details of our lives together. Even the quirks and the not so exciting moments.
I know how I feel when I look back on the photos that my parents took of me growing up- the photo of my Dads arms holding me tight, splashing in the sea with my little sister, or playing in the garden with our precious first dog. They transport me back to that time and I get goosebumps looking at them. Thats what I want my daughters to feel when they look back at their childhood.
Above all I want to freeze time and capture those little details forever.
My blog is full of the day to day images of our lives together and I love to experiment with the kind of photos I take. Most of my posts are full of photos. I also love instagram. You can find me on there as @mummydaddyme.
ALL PHOTOS ON THIS BLOG ARE TAKEN BY MYSELF UNLESS I AM IN THE PHOTO IN WHICH CASE IT IS MY HUSBAND. DO NOT TAKE THEM FOR ANY OTHER USE PLEASE AS THEY ARE OF MY FAMILY.
Below are some of my favourite photos I have taken, it’s just a tiny snippet and if you look through my blog you will find every post is full of photos…
